MP FOREGOES PAY RISE

Eastbourne & Willingdon MP Nigel Waterson has decided to forego the latest pay rise for MP’s, and give his rise to a local charity.  The equivalent amount will go to the local branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, of which Mr. Waterson is the longstanding Patron.

Nigel said: “I do not think this is the right time for public servants like MP’s to receive a pay rise.  I know firsthand that many of my constituents are bearing the brunt of the recession.  This is especially true of those who are out of work, and pensioners.”

“It simply would not be right to accept a pay rise at this time.  So I will be passing the equivalent to an excellent local charity, who I know will put the money to good use.”
