MP OPPOSES KINGS DRIVE DEVELOPMENT

Local MP Nigel Waterson is opposing the latest planning application to build 140 houses in Kings Drive.

He commented this week: “I fought alongside local residents in opposing the last application, but have always feared that we would have to do this all over again.  Despite a unanimous vote of councillors to safeguard this land, the Liberal-Democrat Council has not acted fast enough to take the site out of the Local Development Plan since the last application.”

“The very recent planning consultation also proceeded on the basis that houses could be built here, yet local opinion is totally against it!  Why on earth are our local Council collaborating with the Labour Government’s plans to impose nearly 5,000 new houses on our area?  It’s time to take a stand on behalf of local people.”

Nigel Waterson has organised a Public Meeting at Victoria Baptist Church at 2pm on Thursday 28 January.  All local residents affected by the Planning Application are welcome.  County Councillor Colin Belsey will also be present.
