ATTENDS KINGS DRIVE MEETING
Local MP Nigel Waterson held a packed meeting for residents to discuss the latest planning application to build 140 houses on land at King's Drive.
The meeting began with a technical presentation by council planning officers about the application.
Residents were unanimous in their opposition to the latest application. Various grounds for objection were discussed, including design and layout, possible flooding, traffic and the local ecology. There were particular concerns about a four storey block of flats being positioned on high ground near the roundabout. The MP also undertook to press for an up to date traffic survey.
Nigel Waterson commented: "I am determined to fight shoulder to shoulder with local people to defeat this plan as we did the previous one. But the main problem we face is the designation of the site for housing in the Local Plan. I am pressing councillors to bring more urgency to redesignating the site."
Residents have until 12th February to comment on the application.
